This artwork depicts one of my regular strolls through the edgelands, those transitional and lesser-known areas that lie between urban and rural regions, within the West Midlands. The Highway Anxiety Oil Painting captures a specific walk I took beneath the sprawling motorway network known as Spaghetti Junction. Amidst the concrete and constant flow of vehicles overhead, and with a canal running alongside me, I sought a moment of tranquility. Through my use of color and form, I aimed to convey an almost ethereal essence in my exploration of these scenes.

Shaun is a contemporary artist from Birmingham. He has been a professional painter for over 25 years and exhibited extensively in many solo and group exhibitions in venues that include (recently) Rugby Museum and Art Gallery, Ikon Gallery, The Herbert Art Gallery, Coventry, T Street Gallery, Birmingham, Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery and New Art Gallery, Walsall, UCS Gallery, London. Shaun's paintings depict the urban, suburban and edgelands landscape of Birmingham and the Black Country, often at night, in paintings rich in atmosphere and mood evoked through an exciting exploration of colour and light. As well as a painter, Shaun is a printmaker, lecturer and is available for commissions
