Swept Away was created during Birmingham Open Studios - a live painting that pushed the artist very much out of her comfort zone.
Another painting resides underneath this (as is often the case with Clare's work) something that was started but discarded after the first day. Going in again, Clare leant into the discomfort and used large, confident mark making to create a feeling of energy and movement, with the bold burnt orange marks anchoring the piece.
The painting is sealed with a Sennelier gloss varnish with UV protection. This piece is currently not framed, however the artist can arrange for this to be done. Please contact directly for more information. Artwork also comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Clare completed an Art Foundation course before undertaking a Fashion Design degree in the early 2000’s. After a 10 year stint in London working in the fashion jewellery industry, she moved back to her home town and is now based in Sutton Coldfield, near Birmingham. Clare’s love of painting never left her and she decided to leave her job earlier this year to focus full time on art. Her work has been mainly commission based but she finds joy in creating pieces inspired by a mood or colour, then works intuitively through to completion. Clare works mainly with acrylics, colour is extremely important in all her paintings, she likes to try and invoke a feeling with each piece.
