Using music to directly access memories and emotions from joy to grief and everything in between, this body of work is my journey through sound. Worked on whilst listening to the music and channelling the emotions from it, each painting shows how I view, perceive and feel every individual song, creating visual representations of each track using paint on canvas. Bold and immersive abstract mark making reflects how each song makes me feel, allowing me to visualise moments in time all captured in different colour palettes, brush strokes, gestures and mood.
Clare completed an Art Foundation course before undertaking a Fashion Design degree in the early 2000’s. After a 10 year stint in London working in the fashion jewellery industry, she moved back to her home town and is now based in Sutton Coldfield, near Birmingham. Clare’s love of painting never left her and she decided to leave her job earlier this year to focus full time on art. Her work has been mainly commission based but she finds joy in creating pieces inspired by a mood or colour, then works intuitively through to completion. Clare works mainly with acrylics, colour is extremely important in all her paintings, she likes to try and invoke a feeling with each piece.
