Layla Oresme is a Polish born, London based painter. While growing up in Catholic Poland, she managed to nurture her own sense of spirituality, drawing inspiration from the church’s ornate iconography and the marvellous ceilings covered with paint and gold. She became fond of renaissance master painters, especially Leonardo Da Vinci, admiring his broadmindedness and wide spectrum of knowledge. Taking inspiration from those times she began expanding her own knowledge, delving deeply into meditation, metaphysics, and mysticism. Her work explores the religious, mystical and alchemical symbolism encountered in deep meditation. Her on-going series, Astral Reveries, is a series of paintings which tell the story of a Soul travelling through layers of realities and undergoing a plethora of experiences like death, rebirth love and pain, to ultimately perfect itself and encounter God.
