Lee Harvey is a critical social researcher and artist. Widely travelled, Lee paints in oil, both figurative and abstract.
Lee is working on a series of impressionist photorealist paintings inspired by old snap shots of his trip on the Trans Siberian railway from Moscow to Shanghai in 1988. These depict lesser known aspects of post-Maoist China including an open air dentist, barefooted female house builders, aromatic spice sellers, locomotive engineers and street food vendors not to mention the ubiquitous bicycles.
Prior to that, Lee created a short series of abstract paintings inspired by the geoglyphs in the Nazca desert. These followed on from a set of abstract impressionist works.
