Description: A surge of blue, indigo, turquoise, and white tears across the canvas in an explosive bloom of motion. Rip Tide captures the raw pull of the ocean’s hidden currents — invisible forces that drag, twist, and redirect with relentless power. The composition swirls outward in feathered trails and lacing, mirroring the sea’s paradox: beauty in chaos, rhythm in violence. Whether read as water in motion or energy unbound, Rip Tide invites the viewer into a moment of both danger and exhilaration, where surrender to the current is inevitable.
Story: Rip Tide was inspired by the power and rhythm of the sea, and the way movement in water mirrors the flow of human thought and emotion. Using a layered bloom-blow technique in acrylic, I created surging swirls of blue and white that echo the velocity of waves drawn into a tide. The work captures both turbulence and release — an immersion into energy that can be both overwhelming and meditative. I chose abstraction to allow viewers to enter their own state of reflection: some may see a the force of a tide, others a storm, or even a journey through space at the speed of light. What I hope it leaves behind is a sense of momentum, a reminder of the forces that shape and carry us forward.
