During the pandemic, I created a piece of artwork titled 'Muffin,' drawing inspiration from some of the long walks I took around Epping Forest. This particular self-portrait delves into the winding relationship between humanity and nature, captivating emotions such as fear, curiosity, and the yearning to reconnect with the natural world, all while maintaining a distinct separation. Within the drawing, a prominent feature is a large mushroom, which initially captivates viewers with its visually striking appearance in its early stages of growth. However, as it matures, it gradually loses its distinctive characteristics, becoming rather ordinary and nondescript. This transformation imbues it with a dual nature, simultaneously alluring and repulsive, both captivating and unsettling.
