I made this bloom boom acrylic painting when I was staying in a little village in the Jerusalem hills for an art program. It was a very isolated place surrounded by Mediterranean nature. To get to the art studio, I had to walk on a path shaded by old pine trees, tall sunflowers, various types of roses, lavender, and lots of wildflowers.

Every day, I wanted to pick flowers, but I resisted that urge and instead tried to capture on the canvas how that walk made me feel. It was like an explosion of bright petals that seemed to be crying. The happiness of the blooming nature contrasted with the dark loneliness I felt while walking alone.

It was one of the most challenging times in my life, but also one of the most colorful and creative. It felt like dancing and crying in the full sunlight.
