This painting is another thats part of a collection that explores the juxtaposition of fear and freedom....and embracing change, honesty and new beginnings.
Carrying on with theme of Freedom and Fear I always had ‘fear’ of drawing and since I started painting once again in 2015 I always said I couldn’t draw. This painting, one of many to come, is me challenging that fear and putting down a figurative image onto canvas.
My titles are generally quite significant to whats happening in my life at the time or experiences I’ve had that are still fresh in my memory and my every day journey to try and process them. A lot of my work, I suppose, symbolises turning something good from the bad. ‘CHEEKY’ symbolises this. Thats how I was feeling when I painted this. It was fun and a bit more lighthearted to my previous recent paintings.
I have used bright red and pink over various layers and textures of blue and white which the image in black pop's beautifully giving a dramatic image. Acrylic paint, charcoal and spray paint have been used.
