Focusing on moods such calmness, stillness, and the unsettled, I use the human form as an instrument to explore these feelings within this work. I am interested in the contrast between the feeling of calmness and the violent, and what emerges in between this. I aspire to make the viewer respond to the work itself, rather than represent the emotions themselves. Furthermore, making the viewer question what they are looking at and getting an emotional reaction.
By using the process of creating monotypes as well as collage, I explore mark making, abstraction, and an ambiguous aspect of the human body.

Erika Dyrholm is a Norway based artist, who graduated in BA Drawing at Falmouth University (2018). She studied film, photography and design before coming to England. She now works with drawing, printmaking, collage and mixed media.
