Marta Stolarska

Marta is a painter based in Birmingham UK. While being only a teenager the artist has left everything behind and moved countries to start new adventures and experience the world. After years of searching, she's developed a unique visual language that she shares through painting. Using oil paints in their purest form Stolarska creates works that explore the chiaroscuro and the movement of light across the canvas. Her process often involves painting the finish from the start, then adding the subtlety in the following sittings. This helps create layers that could not be obtained in the direct method of painting, such as adding air or enhancing depth. Working with strong contrasts, of either colour, or the light and shadow she tries to convey the movement across the still life objects and landscapes. Marta's work aims to invite viewers on a personal journey, prompting them to reflect on their own memories or experiences of objects and locations. In the world of mass-produced items Stolarska believes in honest, timeless, and classical art that will last and be relevant for centuries.
