The surface material in this artwork is mortar. A material that I work with occasionally when helping my dad on the building site. As an artist, however, I have tested the physical property of this material by putting it through many experimental processes, which can now provide a new sense of appreciation.
I have also worked with used mortar, the remnants of mortar, which can be found on the building site. Instead of it going into the skip and then taken to landfill I have built it back up as the main structural ground for this artwork. It is also my way of challenging any wasteful behaviour and supporting the environment.
The artwork will be packed by Chris Horner, and orders are typically shipped within 48 hours of being accepted.

I am a contemporary artist who works in Hampshire and London. As an artist, my main concern is challenging people to see the possibilities in beauty through pre-used building materials where others see functionality. I see my work as autobiographical because as well as working as an artist I support my dad in the building trade. When I create my artworks I experiment by combining pre-used building materials (cement, plaster, building sand, strong liquidizes, tarpaulin, polyethylene plastic, etc) with art supplies (glosses, acrylics, oils, glues, Canvas, etc). I get most excited when I start to see the pre-used building materials and art supplies morphing into one another. When operating on the building site, I must be precise and careful with my making. Each stage must be meticulously calculated and completed perfectly. When in my studio, however, I work much looser and freer, and allow accidents to become an integral part of the artwork. I enjoy merging both methods of creating because it provides an uncanny twist to an individual’s experience.
